COMPOSITION ASSIGNMENT

I tried to take advantage of the diagonal line of the alley way and the line from the fence. The first thing you see in the picture is the color from the mosaic, then the lines lead your eye to the rest of the picture. I loved playing around with these shots!

For this shot, I figured I would use the rule of thirds. You have the white, rustic garage, the man in the middle, and then the pile of wood that adds most of the color. I tried not to center my subject, which is the little soldier man, to create a more balanced image.

The first thing I thought when i saw this shed was "THIS IS THE EPITOME OF COMPOSITION." I loved how everything was arranged on the shed. The first thing you see is the "hope" sign, then your eye kind of goes up and then down again. I loved the balance of colors, which also helped the balance of the composition. I would say this lady is an artist, herself, if i had to guess~

This is also the rule of thirds, only I used a subject in each. For the first, you can see the squirrel in his perch chowing, the middle has the American flag, and the third had the rows of corn. It creates a V shape that I thought was really cool. The lighting behind it gives the photo a good looking white balance and exposure (in my opinion). It reminds me of a nice fall day (even though its definitely winter...)

This is one of two shots I posted here. This is a different shed I saw that had fantastic composition. However, I did have to stand a bit far away due to a "Beware of Dog" sign on the fence, so I figured I wouldn't risk it. But I feel like both of them turned out pretty well. I loved the color balance here. The vines kind of toned down the harsh, cream shed, the blue flowers help to lead your eyes straight to that point, then  follow around it. I think what i love most about this photo is the horseshoes. It  helps to create the rule of thirds, and gives a bit of structure from the chaos of the vines.

The second photo I took of the shed. This time I included the window and shot at another angle. Kind of the same idea as the photo above, but my subject is not as closely centered as it was before. This also helps to create the rule of thirds.
